Group Activities Thursday afternoon

If you have booked a group activity, you will have one of the following symbols on your badge.

For the Peace Memorial Tour please meet on the ground floor lobby at 16:30 – the tour will last 2 hours and will include the Peace Museum.

For Miyajima Island, Sake Street Strolling Tour and Kintai Bridge, please promptly make your way upstairs at 16:00 to the ground floor foyer of the ICCH, close to the Mozart Café Exit. You will be guided to a coach showing the symbol above and given a colour-coded wristband for your group.

The guide will then accompany you to your tour, return times are as follows – note you will be given a snack and drink on the coach, but dinner is not provided.

General group activity information

Our group activities are back by popular demand for WMS 2026. Delegates were invited to select their preferred activity when they registered. Details of which activity you are booked on will be included in your registration confirmation email and again in your joining instructions email, which will come out in the days before the Congress starts.

All group activities will take place on the afternoon of Thursday 1 October. The scientific programme will run until 16:00 and tour departures will start immediately following the close of the day's programme. If you are booked on a group activity, please check the time and location of your departure in advance. 

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park tour

This tour will start at 16:30 and will leave from the ICCH.It will last approximately two hours and will include access to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. 

Miyajima Island - guided tour

This tour will depart the ICCH at 16:00 by coach. The coach trip to the ferry terminal will take approximately one hour and the ferry across to the island takes just a few minutes. The guided tour will depart from the island ferry terminal and take approximately 90 minutes. When the tour finishes, you can take the ferry back across to the mainland. We will be providing coaches back to the city at 18:40, 19:00 and 19:30. If you wish to leave later, you can take the public tram. The last ferry departs the island at 22:14 and the last tram is at 23:07. It takes just over an hour to get back to Hiroshima station. 

Miyajima Island - explore at your own pace

This tour will depart the ICCH at 16:00 by coach. The coach trip to the ferry terminal will take approximately one hour and the ferry across to the island takes just a few minutes. When you have finished exploring, you can take the ferry back across to the mainland. We will be providing coaches back to the city at 18:40, 19:00 and 19:30. If you wish to leave later, you can take the public tram. The last ferry departs the island at 22:14 and the last tram is at 23:07. It takes just over an hour to get back to Hiroshima station. 

Miyajima Island - cultural activities (calligraphy or tea-making ceremony)

This tour will depart the ICCH at 16:00 by coach. The coach trip to the ferry terminal will take approximately one hour and the ferry across to the island takes just a few minutes. Please check your joining instructions email for the start time of your chosen activity. The activities each take approximatly 30 minutes. You are welcome to explore the island at your own pace before and after. When you have finished exploring, you can take the ferry back across to the mainland. We will be providing coaches back to the city at 18:40, 19:00 and 19:30. If you wish to leave later, you can take the public tram. The last ferry departs the island at 22:14 and the last tram is at 23:07. It takes just over an hour to get back to Hiroshima station.

Saijo Brewery Tour

This tour will now depart from the ICCH at 16:00, arrive at the brewery at 17:00 and include 90 minutes to visit the brewery, participate in sake tasting and purchase souvenirs before leaving the brewery at 18:30 and returning to the ICCH at around 19:30.

Iwakuni tour

This tour will now depart from the ICCH at 16:00 and arrive in Iwakuni at 17:15, where you will visit the Kintai Bridge area, including the Kikko Shrine and Kikko Park. The Iwakuni Castle will not be open, but it will be possible to stroll around the outside of the building. Coaches will depart from Iwakuni at 19:00 and return to the ICCH by around 20:15.
